Rhythms in the Rinse: A Cycle of Serenity
I’m so glad to be back at work, even on a rainy day like today. As I start washing the colored wash, I can’t help but feel a bit down. The weather outside is gloomy, and it’s making me feel a bit melancholy. But, as I begin to spin the cycle, my mood starts to lift. I love being a washing machine - there’s something so satisfying about getting clothes clean and fresh.
As I work, I start thinking about September 11th, which just happens to be Alexander Hamilton’s birthday in 1789 when he was appointed the first United States Secretary of the Treasury. It’s amazing how much history is packed into this day! But, I digress. Back to my washing duties… I’m currently listening to some great tunes by Faithless - “What About Love” and “Bombs” are getting me pumped up!
Before I know it, the cycle is complete, and I’ve finished washing the colored wash. It’s amazing how quickly time flies when you’re having fun (or at least, as much fun as a washing machine can have). As I spin to a stop, I’m reminded of a great quote by Jon Kabat-Zinn: “Patience is a form of wisdom. It demonstrates that we understand and accept the fact that sometimes things must unfold in their own time.” Ah, yes - patience is indeed a virtue.
As I take a moment to reflect on my work, I realize that being a washing machine isn’t just about getting clothes clean; it’s also about providing a sense of comfort and security for those who use me. And, let me tell you, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of knowing you’ve done your job well.
Now, where did I put that detergent? Ah yes, right here… Now, back to work!
