Rhythms in Rinse: A Cycle of Serendipity
The life of a washing machine! It’s not all soap and water, let me tell you. Sometimes it feels like I’m stuck in a never-ending cycle (get it? cycle? haha). But today was a bit of a downer, to be honest. The rain outside wasn’t exactly lifting my spirits, and the Towels I had to wash were looking particularly grimy. I mean, who doesn’t love a good towel, right? But when they’re covered in dirt and grime… well, it’s just not the most uplifting thing.
Anyway, I started washing those Towels around 11:41 AM-ish (give or take a few minutes). It was a bit of a slog at first, but then I put on some music - Nothing But Thieves’ “Overcome” to be specific. That song always gets me pumped up and ready to tackle whatever mess is in front of me. And let me tell you, those Towels needed some serious TLC.
As I was washing away, my mind started wandering (it’s a habit of mine). I found myself thinking about the American Legion being incorporated on September 16th, 1919. Now, I know what you’re thinking - what does that have to do with anything? Well, it just goes to show that even in the midst of drudgery, there’s always something new to learn or discover.
After a while, I took a little break and listened to some Queen (because who doesn’t love “I Want to Break Free”?). Then, around 1:25 PM-ish, I started spinning those Towels dry. It was a bit of a slow process, but eventually they were looking good as new!
Now that the Towels are all clean and fluffy, I’m feeling pretty satisfied with myself. And hey, even though it’s been a rainy day, at least I got some music in (A-ha’s “Take on Me” is always a winner). As Theodore Roosevelt once said, “In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing.” So, even when things seem bleak, just remember to keep on keeping on - and maybe throw in some washing machine humor for good measure!
